CLE Requirements: The Iowa Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education requires attorneys to complete 15 credits by December 31 every year. All credits must be reported by March 10 of the following year. An attorney may carry over excess credits for up to 2 succeeding calendar years. The 15 required credits must include 1 hour of legal ethics and 1 hour of attorney welllness or diversity and inclusion. Excess legal ethics credits may only be carried over to fulfill the general 15 credit requirement. Effective January 1, 2021, all active Iowa attorneys are required to take one hour of attorney wellness CLE or one hour of diversity and inclusion CLE as part of their 15-hour annual CLE requirement. Please see the FAQ page on the Iowa Supreme Court website for further information.

Effective August 28, 2020, The Iowa Supreme Court amended Rule 41.3(3) to permanently lift the 6 hour cap on unmoderated programming. For further information on the rule change, please see the order on the Iowa Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education website.

Coronavirus update: In the matter of preparation for COVID-19's impact on the office of regulation, The Iowa Supreme Court has issued an order allowing attorneys to complete all 15 hours of their requirement online through webinars or on-demand programming effective March 16, 2020.

PLI is an Accredited Sponsor with the Iowa Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education. Providers are required to submit applications for each program.

Attendance Reporting: Attorneys must report their own attendance to the Iowa Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education. Please log in to add an event to your CLE transcript.
