William T. Barker is a member of SNR Denton's Insurance Litigation & Coverage Practice Group. He has a nationwide practice in the area of complex commercial insurance litigation, including coverage, claim practices, sales practices, risk classification and selection, agent relationships, and regulatory matters. He is the co-author, with Ronald D. Kent of THE NEW APPLEMAN INSURANCE BAD FAITH LITIGATION, and has written over 100 published articles on insurance and litigation subjects. He is a member of the American Law Institute and an Adviser to its project on Principles of Liability Insurance. He has been described as "[t]he leading lawyer commentator" on the relationships between insurance and civil procedure. Charles Silver & Kent Syverud, The Professional Responsibilities of Insurance Defense Lawyers, 45 Duke L.J. 255, 257 & n.4 (1995). He is a member of the Editorial Board of THE NEW APPLEMAN ON INSURANCE LAW and THE NEW APPLEMAN INSURANCE LAW PRACTICE GUIDE. He is Editorial Board Director and Senior Contributing Editor of INSURANCE LITIGATION REPORTER and a member of the Board of Editors of DEFENSE COUNSEL JOURNAL.

Mr. Barker is also a noted practitioner and commentator on issues of professional responsibility and legal ethics. With Professor Charles Silver of the University of Texas, he is now preparing a book on THE PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF INSURANCE DEFENSE COUNSEL. H was active in the debates over the RESTATEMENT (THIRD) OF THE LAW GOVERNING LAWYERS concerning the ethical obligations of insurance defense counsel and received a special award from the International Association of Defense Counsel for his work in that connection. He is the author of Extrajurisdictional Practice by Lawyers, 56 Bus. Law. 1501 (2001). He was a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the ABA/BNA Lawyers' Manual on Professional Conduct from 2004-2007, is a member of the ABA Center on Professional Responsibility and of its Policy Implementation Committee, a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers; a member of the ethics committees of the International Association of Defense Counsel ("IADC"), the Chicago Bar Association, the Chicago Council of Lawyers (past chair) and the ABA Sections of Litigation and Tort & Insurance Practice (TIPS").
