Whitney J. Baran

Ms. Baran is an associate in the firm’s Spokane office. She is an intellectual property litigator practicing in a variety of intellectual property matters, including copyright and trademark procurement, enforcement, litigation, and appellate work as well as patent litigation and false advertising litigation. Ms. Baran has litigated in a variety of venues, including various federal District Courts across the country, state and federal appellate courts, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center, and the National Advertising Division of the Better Business Bureau. Ms. Baran has also successfully briefed and argued a case before the Washington State Supreme Court involving a commercial dispute.

Ms. Baran has worked for intellectual property clients that include the likes of Rovio Entertainment, Ltd (of Angry Birds® fame), Helly Hansen, Koss, Nestlé, Quest Diagnostics, Red Lion Hotels, Cervecería Modelo (of Corona® Beer fame), HTC, and Abercrombie & Fitch.

In addition to her litigation and counseling experience, Ms. Baran is also an active member of the intellectual property bar. She is the current chair of the Washington State Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section and frequently chairs and presents at intellectual property professional events.
