Whit graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1993.  After law school, he worked as an attorney at New York City law firm.  He subsequently served as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office’s Rackets Bureau (2000-2004) and as an Assistant Attorney General in the New York State Attorney General’s Office’s Criminal Prosecutions Bureau (2000-2007).  Whit joined the United States Attorney’s Office in 2008, and has served in the General Crimes, Organized Crime, and Business and Securities Fraud Sections.  During his career, Whit has worked on the investigation and resolution of allegations of misconduct involving companies in the construction, insurance, petrochemical and medical device sectors, among others.
