Virginia Meany is currently an Assistant Director at the SEC responsible for the Office of Risk Assessment and Interactive Data which advises other Commission staff on potential securities violations by researching issues involving market operations and product innovations. She also supports the implementation of the structured data "tagging" rules for financial statement filings. Prior to the SEC, Ms. Meany held senior management roles at several large financial institutions, including Fidelity Investments, JPMorgan and State Street Corporation. Ms. Meany has more than 30 years' experience in client and operations management in the Mutual Fund industry and has been a leader in business process improvement, workplace flexibility and diversity initiatives.

Ms. Meany holds a Bachelor's degree and a Masters in Business Administration from Boston College and has served in leadership roles on numerous corporate and non-profit Boards, including Old Mutual Global Shares Trust, the Longy School of Music, the New England College of Business and the Boston Women's Fund.

She is a long- time advocate of children's literacy and has tutored in the Boston Public School System.
