Valerie Dahiya is the Branch Chief for the Regulation SHO Group within the Division of Trading and Market’s Office of Trading Practices.   The Regulation SHO Group is responsible for administering the Commission’s short selling rules.  Before becoming Branch Chief, Valerie joined Trading Practices in November of 2012 after having served as a Senior Counsel in the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations, where she led broker-dealer examinations.  She received the SEC’s Law and Policy Award and the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in 2011 and the SEC’s Shannon D. Ayers Examination Award of Excellence in 2013.  Prior to joining the Commission, Valerie worked for over three years in Market Regulation at FINRA.
