Tracey Salmon-Smith is an experienced trial lawyer with a background in both the private and public sectors. At Bressler, Tracey has established a diverse litigation practice that involves representing companies in matters involving commercial disputes, employment litigation, premises liability and securities law. She also advises on e-discovery and information management issues. Tracey brings an ability to see the big picture, as well as the skill to focus on the details, developed during her tenure as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York (EDNY).

In the area of securities law, she defends brokerage firms and their brokers in arbitration matters before FINRA against allegations including fraud, misrepresentation and unsuitability. In her employment practice, Tracey has extensive experience defending corporate clients in age, race and gender discrimination, workplace sexual harassment, whistle-blower and wrongful discharge claims. In the premises liability area, Tracey defends clients against premises liability claims for injuries sustained on private property. Her extensive experience includes pre-suit investigation and negotiations through resolution including trial.

Tracey joined Bressler from UBS Financial Services Inc, where she was Director and Associate General Counsel in the Sales Practice Litigation Area. She also was appointed to be a member of the UBS E-Discovery Working Group. While in the EDNY, she also served as Acting Chief of Environmental Litigation and Chief of Bankruptcy. Tracey also worked in private practice.

Tracey recently received a prestigious appointment to the governing body of the ABA Litigation Section. She has been actively involved in the Litigation Section for the past several years serving in various  leadership positions. She has chaired several ABA Litigation Section meetings, as well as moderated or spoken on panels. In 2015, the ABA President appointed Tracey to the Board of Governors Subcommittee on Investments.

Tracey is Chair of Bressler’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. She also volunteers her time to mentor young people and junior lawyers.

Tracey is a graduate of Dartmouth College with an A.B. in English and she received her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law.
