Tina Hulse focuses her practice on patent litigation, interference, and client counseling primarily in the areas of medical devices and biotechnology.

Dr. Hulse has a broad range of experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in all types of patent litigation, including utility and design patent infringement actions in federal district courts, appeals of interferences to district court, appeals of district court actions to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). Dr. Hulse has also represented both junior and senior parties in interference actions before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent Trademark Office (PTAB) (formerly the U.S. Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences).

In addition to litigation, Dr. Hulse has experience in client counseling, including preparing opinions of counsel and conducting due diligence investigations. She also has experience in patent prosecution.

Highlights
  • Represented a biotechnology company in obtaining a reversal at the Federal Circuit of a district court's judgment affirming the Board's adverse decision in an appeal of an interference.
  • Represented a medical device company in obtaining a judgment of unenforceability for inequitable conduct of one patent and summary judgment of noninfringement of the other.
  • Represented a biotechnology company in obtaining summary judgment of noninfringement, which was affirmed at the Federal Circuit.
  • Represented disabled American veterans pro bono before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
  • Associate editor of Finnegan's Last Month at the Federal Circuit newsletter, 2009-2011.
  • Supervising editor of the California Law Review, 2003-2004.
