Timothy Kviz leads the Accounting Policy Group at Freddie Mac.  His responsibilities at Freddie Mac include interpreting the accounting literature and establishing accounting policy for the Company, assisting with implementation of accounting policies, following standard setting activities of the FASB, IASB, EITF, assessing impacts of new business initiatives to the Finance organization, the corporate accounting activities for the company, and various special projects.

Prior to joining the Freddie Mac in May of 2007, Mr. Kviz was a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where he was responsible for following the activities of various professional accounting standard setting bodies both within the United States and internationally, consultations with registrants on accounting and reporting matters, and participation in the development of the Commission’s and other standard setting bodies’ rule proposals. 

Additionally, Mr. Kviz spent two years as a senior manager in the national office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he was a senior manager that was responsible for monitoring activities of the EITF, assisting practice offices in the resolution of complex accounting and auditing issue, authoring or contributing to publications communicating guidance and observations on technical accounting matters, and developing PricewaterhouseCoopers’ accounting policy guidance.  His expertise spans a variety of accounting issues, including transfers and servicing of financial assets, consolidations, financial assets and liabilities, derivatives and hedge accounting, debt and equity, and foreign currency transactions.  Mr. Kviz also spent nine years in the assurance practice where he was involved in the audits of financial institutions, mortgage companies, troubled loan resolution partnerships and investment funds, and finance companies.  He has spoken to numerous audiences on a variety of accounting and financial reporting topics.

Mr. Kviz attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.  He is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
