Originally from Canada, Tim is a US-qualified attorney with two decades of combined regulatory, investment banking and compliance experience from bases in Hong Kong and Singapore. Tim first entered the financial industry in 1996 as a manager at the listing division of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. Transitioning from regulation to the front-office in 2000, he joined the London-listed Hong Kong corporate finance arm of the then Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi as an investment banker specializing in ECM origination, ultimately migrating with the entire team in 2002 to the Hong Kong corporate finance arm of leading Singaporean bank, UOB. In 2005, combining his legal, regulatory and investment banking skillsets Tim joined the preeminent Singaporean regional bank, DBS, first at its head office in Singapore, where he led its wholesale group compliance practice, and then in Hong Kong where he led the legal and compliance team supporting DBS’s Hong Kong investment bank and its broker-dealer. Tim was hired by the German government backed Commerzbank AG in 2008 to lead its Hong Kong compliance practice and ultimately, additionally, its regional markets compliance practice. In 2014 Tim joined Wells Fargo to lead its Asia-Pacific markets compliance practice, supporting the bank’s securities, FX, and asset management businesses. Tim joined State Street in 2016 as Managing Director and Head of Compliance Asia Pacific Global Markets (and then, additionally, Global Exchange and Global Treasury), where he leads a regional team overseeing all aspects of compliance in Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, China and Singapore.
