Tom Baldwin serves as Chief Knowledge Officer at Reed Smith LLP.  In Tom's role as CKO, he helps assess methods that increase efficiency, streamline processes and create competitive advantage for the firm's lawyers and its clients.  Previously, Tom was the CKO at Sheppard Mullin. Before joining Sheppard Mullin, he held a senior-level position at Foley and Lardner.  Tom started his career consulting for years with law firms and corporate legal departments. Tom received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California, where he was in the top 10 of his class and was a member of the track team from 1991-1992.  He is a nationally renowned speaker and author, with more than 100 conferences and articles to his credit.Tom is a recognized leader in the industry: he was one of the Computerworld Premier 100 IT Leaders for 2010, finalist - ILTA SharePoint Innovator of the Year 2010, Finalist - ILTA Knoweldge Management Champion 2010, Champion of Technology - LTN Awards 2009, Most Innovative Use of Technology by a Law Firm - LTN Awards 2009, ILTA SharePoint Innovator of the Year, 2009, First Place, Interwoven Matter Centric Computing design - ILTA, 2008, named 2005 Legal IT Innovator of the Year by the Legal IT Forum, and was featured on the cover of the Nov/Dec 2005 issue of Law Firm Inc. magazine; and he was a member of the management team that won the CIO 100 Award in 2002 from CIO Magazine.  Tom serves on the advisory boards of Law Technology News, Law.com, Travelling Coaches and Thomson Reuters. Tom also served as the Regional Vice President of the International Legal Technology Association from 2003-2009.
