Tammy C. White-Gonzalez is the Special Assistant to the Director of the Office of Family Visiting which includes the Children of Incarcerated Parents Program (CHIPP).  Tammy has worked at the NYC Administration for Children's Services' (ACS) CHIPProgram for 11 years. She played a vital role in the development of CHIPP as a new ACS program, when CHIPP was created in 2000. 

Within CHIPP, Mrs. White-Gonzalez was the Upstate Coordinator for the male and female correctional facilities for seven years.  She has been in her current position for the past three years, and continues to work very closely with the CHIPP staff to ensure that the program is running effectively.  

During her years in CHIPP, Mrs. White-Gonzalez has gained knowledge and experience in understanding the complexities and hardships children go through as a result of parental incarceration, the challenges parents face during their incarceration (as well as being separated from their children), and the systemic, relational, and personal challenges parents face after their release. 

Mrs. White-Gonzalez is called upon regularly to make presentations related to parental incarceration and speaks to mothers who are incarcerated at Rikers Island regarding their rights and responsibilities as parents, who have a child (ren) in the child welfare system. 

Mrs. White-Gonzalez sits on the Incarcerated Mothers' Committee, Women in Prison Project, and is affiliated with the NY Initiative for Children of Incarcerated Parents which is under the auspice of The Osborne Association. 

Mrs. White-Gonzalez holds a Master's in Social Work degree from the Columbia University School of Social Work in New York City.
