Tamara M. Brightwell serves as Senior Advisor to the Director in the Division of Corporation Finance at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Ms. Brightwell advises on legal, regulatory, and policy matters related to the federal securities laws, including disclosure reform and capital formation initiatives. Prior to this role, Ms. Brightwell served as Senior Advisor to Chair Mary Jo White, serving as principal advisor on all matters involving the work of the Division of Corporation Finance and the Commission’s Office of the Chief Accountant. Ms. Brightwell also has served as Senior Special Counsel to the Director in the Division of Corporation Finance, a Special Counsel in the Division’s Office of Chief Counsel, and as an Attorney-Adviser in Disclosure Operations. 

Ms. Brightwell earned her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Clemson University, and her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
