WORK FOR CLIENTS  
Steve Gustavson is a trial lawyer and a counsel in the firm's Litigation Department, and a member of its Patent Litigation Practice. His practice focuses on IP litigation, and encompasses trademark, copyright and patent infringement litigation, as well as matters involving unfair competition, trade secrets, fraud, and contractual disputes. Mr. Gustavson joined Goodwin Procter in 2008.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Mr. Gustavson is a member of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association. He has been recognized as a New York "Super Lawyer" for 2006.

MEDIA
Mr. Gustavson is the co-author of "Combatting the Alarming Counterfeiting Explosion," which appeared in the New York Law Journal (October 2006), and the author of "New Internet Domain Name Policy Takes Effect," which appeared in Intellectual Property Hot Topics (November 2001). In addition, he presented on "Infringement Claims" at the Trademark Portfolio Acquisition and Protection seminar by Law Seminars International (March 2004), and served as a panelist on "Discovery" at the International Trademark Association's Basics of Trademark Litigation Forum (February 2001).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Previously, Mr. Gustavson was a partner in the New York office of Baker Botts LLP. From 1983-1993, he served as a prosecutor/civil litigator for the Office of the City Attorney in San Diego. In this capacity, he was a lead trial counsel in over 30 jury trials, and litigated extensively in a variety of state and federal courts, including probate and bankruptcy courts.

BAR AND COURT ADMISSIONS
Mr. Gustavson is admitted to practice in New York, California and the District of Columbia; and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second, Ninth and Federal Circuits, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Southern and Central Districts of California, and the Eastern District of Michigan.
