Steven Levi is a Deputy Chief in the Tort Division of the New York City Law Department. After graduating from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1984, he clerked for New York State Supreme Court Justice Seymour Schwartz for two years.

He joined the Law Department in 1986 in the Commercial Litigation Division and in 1988 transferred into the Tort Division's Special Litigation Unit, specializing in federal practice and maritime personal injury law.

In 1996, he became chief of the Lead Poisoning Unit which was established to respond to a flood of new litigation. In 2000, Mr. Levi became Senior Risk Management Counsel and began counseling agency clients in litigation preparedness and avoidance. In 2001, he became a Deputy Chief with responsibilities in overall Tort Division management and in 2002 also became the chief of the newly establish Risk Management Unit.
