Steven F. Borsand is Executive Vice President of Intellectual Property for Trading Technologies International, Inc. (“TT”).  TT makes derivatives trading software and execution solutions for professional traders. TT employs around 400 people worldwide. TT is headquartered in Chicago and also has offices in New York, Stamford, Houston, São Paulo, London, Geneva, Frankfurt, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney. TT distributes its software and solutions to end users through more than 100 firms, including 19 of the top 20 U.S. futures brokers.

Since Steve joined in 2002, TT has built up the largest portfolio of patents in the space of electronic trading. The portfolio was recently recognized in the Crain’s Chicago Business Eureka Index. Steve is lead counsel for ongoing industry wide litigation involving TT’s patents that relate to the MD Trader ladder invention. Steve has also overseen settlements or licenses involving TT’s patents with over twenty companies.

Prior to joining TT, Steve served as Director of IP at 3Com Corporation (previously U.S. Robotics). At 3Com, he was responsible for managing all patent litigation and licensing, and he helped manage the company’s patent program. During Steve’s tenure there, the company’s patent portfolio grew from less than 50 to more than 500 patents. Previously, Steve was an attorney with Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, where he concentrated on patent and other IP litigation.

Steve graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.S. in computer engineering. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.
