Steve Weissman is Deputy Director for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Competition. Prior to this appointment in October 2013, he was a partner in the Antitrust Practice Group at Baker Botts LLP and, previously, Howrey LLP in Washington, DC.   His responsibilities at the FTC include oversight over the agency’s review of mergers and acquisitions, including those reportable under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.   Both at the FTC and in private practice, he has focused on a range of antitrust issues, including mergers and acquisitions, and other business practices across a variety of industries.  Steve graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1994 and received his undergraduate degree in 1991 from Tufts University, where he majored in economics.
