So You Want To Be a Cybersecurity Startup: Tips on How to Best Approach Relevant Legal Tasks [01:03:50]

Cybersecurity business is booming in the U.S. and across the globe, thanks fortunately to growing awareness of the need for stronger cybersecurity and unfortunately due to the explosive growth of cyber-attacks. Regardless of the reasons why, customers are clamoring for more and better cybersecurity tools, and in turn innovators are regularly exploring ways to create and launch their own cybersecurity businesses.

While entering into the cybersecurity marketplace presents an exciting opportunity for vendors, startup team members want to be sure to do so in a way that maximizes sales opportunities while retaining control over the direction of their new company.

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP partners Brian E. Finch, David M. Lisi, and Matthew B. Swartz explain:

  • Funding opportunities and challenges specifically related to cybersecurity startups;
  • Corporate organizational tips to best position startups for success; and
  • Key legal and regulatory differences between commercial and government markets, and the relative merits of each when deciding where to focus growth efforts.
