Scott T. Schutte is the Managing Partner of the Chicago office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, and a  co-chair of the firm's Class Action Group. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on class action defense. Scott has successfully defended consumer service providers, banks, retailers and product manufacturers and other in class action lawsuits in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He also has handled a broad array of complex commercial litigation, including claims involving breach of contract, state and federal false claim statutes, insurance coverage, unfair competition, product liability, lender liability, and breach of fiduciary duty. Scott has had first-chair responsibilities in numerous trials (jury and bench) and arbitrations.

Scott is active in pro bono matters. In 2007, Mr. Schutte obtained a landmark victory for his client, James Andrews, when he convinced a Chicago judge to grant Mr. Andrews' post-conviction petition and vacate two murder convictions for which Mr. Andrews had served 24 years in prison. Mr. Schutte also has handled death penalty cases in Illinois and Texas.

Mr. Schutte earned his J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1995, where he was editor-in-chief of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and graduated as valedictorian.
