Sandeep Gupta is the co-founder of Novo Advisors, specializing in interim management leading to business turnarounds and performance improvement. Mr. Gupta has over 18 years of turnaround and restructuring experience.  Mr. Gupta’s capabilities range from stabilizing operations of businesses experiencing a liquidity crisis to improving the financial performance of underperforming businesses. Mr. Gupta’s capabilities also include developing alternative strategies for businesses that are no longer viable on a stand alone basis.

Mr. Gupta’s expertise ranges from development of short-term liquidity forecasts, breakeven analyses, and performance/profit improvement studies to mergers and acquisitions and liquidation analyses for distressed businesses including manufacturers, distributors, retailers and service providers. From an industry perspective his experience includes, but is not limited to, specialty finance, agriculture, automotive, commercial printing, healthcare, food, call centers, and energy. He has taken on interim management roles, turnarounds, sale of businesses, bankruptcies, assignment for the benefit of creditors, receiverships, and liquidations.

Mr. Gupta has worked with businesses that range from $5 million in sales in single facilities to businesses that are $1 billion in revenue across multiple facilities.  Mr. Gupta was recently the CRO of a $40 million wire mesh manufacturer, where the business was sold in a 363 bankruptcy sale.  Additionally, Mr. Gupta recently served as interim COO of International Garden Products, a $40 million grower of shrubs and garden roses, where he improved the EBITDA of the business by $4.5 million leading the business to a successful sale.  Mr. Gupta was also the US CRO of $200 million international defense contracting concern which manufactured transmission systems for military aircraft.  His involvement lead to a successful sale of the business, saving 1,000 jobs.

Prior to founding Novo, Mr. Gupta spent five years with FTI Consulting, an internationally recognized turnaround consultancy, and an additional eight years with Silverman Consulting, a boutique restructuring advisory firm based in Chicago.  Prior to Silverman, Mr. Gupta was an operational and strategy consultant for two years with Arthur D. Little.  Mr. Gupta also has six years of experience as an engineer for Exelon Corporation’s Commonwealth Edison power generation business in Chicago.

Mr. Gupta holds an MBA in finance and business strategy from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Mr. Gupta is a member of the Chicago chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth.  Mr. Gupta also most recently passed all three parts of the Certified Turnaround Professional exam. Mr. Gupta is also a member of the board of directors of Woolf Farming and Processing.
