Ryan Babiuch focuses his commercial litigation practice on representing businesses in high-stakes litigation and complex commercial disputes. Having spent three and a half years deeply engaged in a massive oil spill multidistrict litigation, Ryan gained invaluable experience in all aspects of large, complex litigation and honed the skills necessary to address such matters effectively. Ryan approaches his work with the goal of providing thorough analysis and clear guidance to clients in order to achieve their goals efficiently and effectively. Ryan has additional experience in employment disputes, bankruptcy litigation, & large products liability actions.


  • Represented large energy company in a massive oil spill multidistrict litigation and related state and federal commercial and personal injury cases. Held primary strategic and case management responsibilities on more than 30 commercial, personal injury, and indemnity actions and served as co-lead attorney on a $15 million plaintiff's lawsuit.
  • Represented employer board of directors in an employment dispute against the company's former executives. Deposed key witnesses and drafted answer, motion to dismiss, and summary judgment motions.
  • Represented large real estate investment trust in a $95 million bankruptcy litigation. Deposed key party witness.
  • Represented architectural and engineering firm in professional malpractice action. Lead drafter of successful motion for judgment on the pleadings.
  • Represented international pharmaceutical company in a large products liability multidistrict litigation.

Pro Bono

  • Served as lead counsel in a workers compensation/wrongful termination case, which resulted in the obtainment of a settlement favorable to the client.
  • Served as a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellow at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, working on low-income housing and foreclosure issues.
