Ryan P. Newell

Ryan Newell represents clients in a variety of areas, including corporate and commercial litigation; corporate governance; corporate counseling; mergers and acquisitions; electronic discovery and records management; and government representation. Ryan is also a Delaware Superior Court certified mediator.

In addition to regularly litigating business disputes before the District of Delaware, the Delaware Court of Chancery, and the Delaware Superior Court, Ryan frequently writes about corporate and commercial decisions in the Delaware courts. Ryan has also lectured on electronically-stored information and document retention matters.

Ryan was part of a team that successfully defended the State of Delaware before the United States Supreme Court in an original jurisdiction action brought by New Jersey that challenged Delaware’s sovereignty over the Delaware River within its historic Twelve Mile Circle. In 2010, Ryan received the Delaware State Bar Association’s New Lawyers Distinguished Service Award.

In law school, Ryan served as law clerk to The Honorable Kevin A. Hess in the Cumberland County (Pennsylvania) Court of Common Pleas. During law school, Ryan was the Casenote Editor for the Penn State Law Review.
