Certified Specialist in Family Law
San Francisco, CA, USA

Roxanne Hoegger has practiced family law since 2002 and is a Certified Family Law Specialist with the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. She received her B.A., summa cum laude, from UC Berkeley and her J.D. from UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall).

Before starting Auer & Hoegger LLP, Roxanne was an associate at Christy & Keith Family Law Group, P.C, in San Mateo. She worked on cases involving complex property issues such as the division of closely held business interests and stock options, the discovery of hidden assets, and breaches of fiduciary duties. She also collaborated with many well-known forensic experts including child custody evaluators, accountants, private judges, and mediators.

Roxanne was previously a staff attorney at Bay Area Legal Aid in San Francisco, where she gained significant expertise with domestic violence matters and high-conflict custody disputes. Roxanne first joined Bay Area Legal Aid after graduating from law school when she was awarded an Equal Justice Works Fellowship by Bingham McCutchen, LLP, and Bay Area Legal Aid to represent domestic violence victims in family law proceedings. During law school, Roxanne authored a law review article that was published in the UC Berkeley Women's Law Journal, addressing domestic violence cases under the Hague Convention, which has been cited by the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh and Eleventh Circuits. Roxanne also participated in Boalt Hall's domestic violence clinic as an intern for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

Roxanne has substantial experience litigating contested family law hearings and trials. Roxanne was the lead trial attorney in a case that successfully challenged a prenuptial agreement based on the lack of financial disclosures. She also assisted with defending the appeal of this matter and filing a cross appeal. She has appeared pro hac vice in Oklahoma court and successfully handled a trial involving interstate custody, international child abduction, and domestic violence.

Roxanne was selected to Northern California Rising Stars 2009, 2010, and 2012 by Super Lawyers magazine. She is a member of the Family Law Sections of the State Bar of California and the Bar Associations of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties. She is also a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS) and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC).

Roxanne is also committed to pro bono work. Through the San Francisco Bar Association, Volunteer Legal Services Program (VLSP), Roxanne acts as a mentor family law attorney and family law volunteer on the court's law and motion and self represented litigant's calendars. She is also a volunteer family law settlement conference master with the San Francisco Superior Court.

Roxanne is a San Francisco native and is raising her family in San Francisco. She is proficient in Spanish and Italian.
