Ron Maples provides consulting services to businesses on a variety of topics, including revenue recognition, contract structure, technical accounting matters, process improvement and project management of revenue system installations.

Mr. Maples has in-depth experiences in technical accounting issues derived from years working in public accounting, industry and the Financial Accounting Standards Board.  From 2006 to 2008, he was a Technical Fellow of the FASB, working on accounting standards and technical application and implementation activities for the Emerging Issues Task Force.  Ron held leadership roles with accounting updates
EITF 08-1 (ASU 2009-13) and EITF 09-3 (ASU 2009-14); revenue recognition for multiple-element arrangements and software revenue accounting.

Prior to his time at the FASB, Mr. Maples spent over 18 years in public accounting, including two years as a Senior Manager in PwC’s National Professional Services Group.  In that role, he was responsible for providing timely and accurate accounting consulting services for clients in various industries throughout the United States and around the World.

Upon the completion of the 2-year commitment with FASB, Mr. Maples was hired by McAfee as Sr. Director of Worldwide Revenue.  As Sr. Director, Ron oversaw the implementation of Leeyo systems RevPro revenue accounting software, reduced quarterly close timing by over 60%, made significant contributions to the Intel acquisition of McAfee, and authored Intel’s software revenue recognition accounting policy (including the accounting updates he led while at FASB).

As Managing Director of Maple Tree Accounting, Mr. Maples has helped companies implement revenue recognition software and provided technical guidance on complex accounting issues and financial system configurations.  Most recently he has focused on ASC 606 assessments and implementation services, providing clients with analysis of current and future state assessments and recommendations for system and process changes to accurately apply the standard.

Mr. Maples earned his Bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University.  He is a licensed CPA in the states of Texas, Oklahoma and New Jersey.  He currently lives outside Dallas with his lovely wife and two wonderful sons.
