Ron Maples provides consulting services to businesses on a variety of topics, including revenue recognition, contract structure, technical accounting matters, process improvement and project management of revenue system installations.

Mr. Maples has deep experiences in technical accounting issues derived from years working in public accounting, industry and the Financial Accounting Standards Board.  From 2006 to 2008, he was a Technical Fellow of the FASB, working on accounting standards and technical application and implementation activities, including leading or co-leading EITF 08-1 (ASU 2009-13) and EITF 09-3 (ASU 2009-14).

Prior to his time at the FASB, Mr. Maples spent over 18 years in public accounting, including two years as a Senior Manager in PwC’s National Professional Services Group.  In that role, he was responsible for providing timely and accurate accounting consulting services to partners and clients throughout the United States and around the World.

After completing his tour with the FASB, Mr. Maples became the Sr. Director of Worldwide Revenue for McAfee.  As Sr. Director he implemented the standards he helped draft while at the FASB.  He also honed his skill for process improvements, reducing the Company’s financial close timeframe by over 60%

As an Independent Business Consultant, Mr. Maples has helped several companies implement revenue recognition software, providing technical advice on complex accounting issues related to revenue recognition and system configuration.  He most recently managed a client’s ASC 606 assessment, providing analysis of current and future state with recommendations for system and process changes to accurately apply the standard.

Mr. Maples earned his Bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University.  He is a licensed CPA in the states of Texas, Oklahoma and New Jersey.
