Mr. Sherman is a former FCC Wireless Bureau Chief and Senior Staffer in the House of Representatives who is widely regarded as one of the premier strategists on wireless regulatory matters.

With a career spanning 20+ years in Washington, DC, across various platforms, including law firm, in-house, and government, Mr. Sherman has developed significant experience in a wide array of communications and technology matters, particularly in the wireless space.  Until March 2016, Mr. Sherman served as Chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission.  In that role, he advised FCC Commissioners on complex wireless matters, met regularly with C-suite level industry executives, and supervised a team of more than 200 federal employees.  

Before joining the Bureau, Mr. Sherman held a number of senior positions on Capitol Hill in which he advised on communications and technology policy as well as other issues.  He served as Democratic Chief Counsel on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and Chief Counsel/Staff Director for the Communications and Technology Subcommittee.  In those roles, he advised Chairman Henry A. Waxman (D-CA) and Committee members on all matters within the jurisdiction of the Energy and Commerce Committee, with a particular focus on communications and technology policy, as well as FCC oversight.  Mr. Sherman also served as Deputy Chief Counsel to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and helped direct numerous committee investigations.  

Mr. Sherman spent a decade as a Director/Senior Counsel with Sprint Nextel Corporation, and before that was an associate lawyer at a Washington, DC firm specializing in communications law.  Prior to attending law school, Mr. Sherman served as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Alan Cranston (D-CA) and to Representative Henry A. Waxman.  

Mr. Sherman earned his JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1995.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history, summa cum laude, from Amherst College in 1988.
