Mr. Hurd is the Chief Financial Officer of Bridgeway Capital Advisors, Inc. (“BCA”), a privately held firm offering capital raising, financial management and asset management services to vendors, lessors and lessees, principally involving water treatment, oil re-refining and materials processing equipment subject to service contracts under joint venture arrangements.  Mr. Hurd has responsibility for pricing, financial analysis, operations, tax and financial reporting. In this capacity he has provided projections and written analysis in support of strategic plans for the company’s venturers, follow-on deal pricing and structuring, and portfolio management activities. He also plays a lead role in maximizing settlements under tax indemnity agreements on behalf of lessor clients with troubled leveraged leases. 

 

 He serves as the firm’s representative to the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association’s (ELFA) Financial Accounting Committee. He served as this committee’s Chair from 2005-2015 and from 1988-1993.   He frequently authors articles on leasing issues, leads conference sessions on emerging leasing issues with representatives of the FASB, IASB and Big 4. He also authors comment letters on exposure drafts on behalf of BCA, or co-authors such letters on behalf of the ELFA.

 

Before joining BCA in 2003, Mr. Hurd held various senior finance positions, including 17 years with Bank of America Leasing and Capital Group (“BALCG”).  Before joining BALCG in 1987, he served as controller for a venture capital firm and also for several leasing companies, principally engaged in structured lease financings, asset management, and joint ventures. 

 

Mr. Hurd has served as a business consultant for the Financial Services Volunteer Corps in connection with leasing projects in Russia, Morocco and Egypt. 

 

Mr. Hurd obtained his C.P.A. certificate while employed as an auditor and small business consultant, principally to the firm’s leasing clients, at Deloitte, San Francisco, California.

 

He holds an M.B.A. in Accounting from Golden Gate University, where he also served as a Distinguished Adjunct Professor responsible for the School of Accounting’s research & communications courses from 1980-2013.  He holds a B.A. in History from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, California.

 

He received the ELFA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2006.   He also was recognized as Adjunct of the Year by Golden Gate University in 2002 and received its Distinguished Teaching Award in 1996.
