Robin is a partner in Kirkland’s Chicago office who focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation, primarily on trademark and false advertising litigation. Robin has extensive courtroom experience on such matters, and has considerable experience litigating trademark and false advertising matters in the context of requests for expedited relief. Robin also has substantial experience working with experts in the field of trademark and advertising surveys. Robin has been the attorney primarily responsible for both bringing and defending actions before the National Advertising Division (the “NAD”) of the Better Business Bureau. Robin regularly counsels clients in the areas of trademark and advertising and has primary responsibility for maintaining, protecting and enforcing clients’ trademark portfolios at the PTO.

Robin also has extensive experience in handling the damages side of intellectual property litigation. She has been the attorney primarily responsible for litigating multi-million dollar damages claims on trademark and patent litigation matters, including working extensively with damages experts.

Representative False Advertising Litigation

Dyson, Inc. v. Euro-Pro:  Represented vacuum cleaner manufacturer in a false advertising matter involving a competitor’s comparative claims concerning carpet cleaning ability.

DIRECTV v. Comcast Cable: Represented DIRECTV in a false advertising case concerning television picture quality claims.

Jays Foods, Inc. v. Frito Lay: Litigated false advertising action against Frito Lay, which resulted in a temporary restraining order against Frito Lay.

Dentsply International v. 3M: Defended 3M against claims brought by a competitor concerning advertising claims 3M was making in connection with its dental impression products

Norelco v. Remington, Inc.: Defended against a temporary restraining order action and preliminary injunction involving claims made in nationwide televised advertising campaign.

Verizon Information Services, Inc. v. Yellow Book: Litigated false advertising claims by competitor in nationwide television advertising campaign and unfair business practices.

In addition to federal court litigation, Robin has extensive experience before NAD, having represented clients from the oral care industry, the vacuum industry, pet food industry, and telecommunications  in numerous challenges, and has also represented clients before NARB.
