Robert M. Gordon recently retired as Assistant Gen-eral Tax Counsel at BP America Inc. in Warrenville, Illinois. He spent 20 years with BP (formerly Amoco Corporation) specializing in corporate acquisitions, divestments, and joint ventures, and general domestic and international tax plan-ning. Prior to joining Amoco in 1989, he practiced in the tax departments of two major Chicago law firms.
Bob is an active member of the American Bar Asso-ciation Tax Section, where he served as Chair of the Energy and Environmental Taxes Committee and is an officer of the Corporate Tax Committee. Bob is also active in the Chicago Chapter of Tax Executives Institute and is the author of a number of professional articles.
Bob received his A.B. degree (with honors) from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1974 and his J.D. degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 1983, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Northwestern Univer-sity Law Review. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois.
