Richard Fruehauf is Assistant General Counsel for Compliance with Westinghouse Electric Company, where he is advises on foreign trade controls, antitrust, anti-corruption, cyber security and international trade. Previously, he practiced with Cohen & Grigsby in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he focused on international matters and financial transactions, and was Associate Counsel for International Trade at Alcoa. He began his legal career with Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., where he was a member of the International and Financial Institutions practices. He also has served in positions responsible for chemical and biological weapons nonproliferation policy and intelligence matters with the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Arms Control & Disarmament Agency, and as a Presidential Management Intern with the Department of the Navy. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia, where he was Articles Editor of the Virginia Law Review and a member of the Editorial Board of the Virginia Journal of International Law. He holds a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University and a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
