Ram Ramakrishnan is the Professor of Accounting at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He was the Head of the Department of Accounting at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) from 1999 to 2007. Prior to coming to UIC, professor Ramakrishnan taught at the Stern School of Business of New York University, Columbia University, and the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Professor Ramakrishnan received his MBA and Doctorate in Accounting from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and BS from the Indian Institute of Technology. He has given lectures in many of the major universities of the world and consulted with leading accounting and business firms in the US and abroad.  Professor Ramakrishnan has published in the Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Accounting Organizations and Society, Journal of Finance, Review of Economic Studies, Management Science and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. He has won numerous teaching awards and is a member many academic accounting committees. Currently he was the chairman of Illinois CPA Society task force on the CPA examination and serves on other accounting professional bodies.
