Pietrina Scaraglino is Deputy General Counsel and Associate Secretary of New York University, where she assists in overseeing the Office of General Counsel’s staff of 15 attorneys.  The Office provides legal advice and counsel to the University’s colleges, portal campuses, global sites, and administrative departments on a wide variety of matters including corporate, international, non-profit, employment, real estate, litigation, and intellectual property.  Before returning to NYU in January 2015, Pietrina served as Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of the Institute of International Education, which is among the world’s largest and most experienced international exchange organizations, from 2011 through 2015.  Prior to that, she spent 16 years at NYU in its Office of General Counsel; when she left in 2011, she was the Director of the Office’s Global and Corporate Practices.  Pietrina also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Charities Bureau of the New York State Attorney General’s Office and was a litigator in private practice.

Pietrina holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. in Journalism from New York University.  She is a member of the Government Relations Committee of the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee and the National Association of College and University Attorneys, where she serves on the Editorial Board of NACUANotes.  Pietrina also has written and lectured on issues involving non-profits.
