Philip J. Tendler is a senior associate in the San Francisco office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP. He specializes in project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate representation on governance matters. He has experience across many sectors of the energy industry and has structured, negotiated and closed transactions in a variety of domestic and international markets. His recent transactional matters include acting for: sponsors on the project financing of an ethanol plant; an electric utility in the development of new generation resources in the western United States; a lender in the project financing of an industrial gas project in Trinidad; a major oil company in connection with new commercial supply arrangements in Russia; a Japanese trading company in an Indonesian LNG project; and a U.K.-based telecom company in its tender offer acquisition of a public U.S. company. Mr. Tendler has also advised boards of directors and audit committees during episodes of corporate transformation with respect to their fiduciary and other duties in the post-Sarbanes-Oxley era. He is a member of Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and before joining the firm was a Securities Analyst in the Global Energy and Power Group at Schroders. Mr. Tendler has attended the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies, and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brandeis University, and the University of California Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), where he was awarded a John M. Olin Law & Economics Fellowship.
