Peter Karanjia is a partner in Davis Wright Tremaine LLP’s Washington, D.C. and New York offices, Co-chair of the firm’s Appellate Practice Group, and a member of its Communications and Privacy & Security groups. 

From 2010 to 2013, Peter served as Deputy General Counsel of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), where he was responsible for overseeing all of the agency’s litigation.  Peter previously served as a senior member of the Office of New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo, where he was Special Counsel to the Solicitor General. 

For his role in defending major enforcement proceedings by the FCC and Federal Trade Commission (FTC), as well as a Supreme Court victory, Peter was recently recognized by Law360 as a 2015 “MVP” in Telecom Law.  Peter is also frequently quoted in the national media on telecom and privacy law.  He holds law degrees from Harvard Law School, where he was a John F. Kennedy scholar, and Oxford University, from which he graduated with First Class Honors.
