Peter K.M. Chan

Mr. Chan has been an Assistant Regional Director in the Division of Enforcement at the SEC’s Chicago Regional Office since 2000. He also heads the Chicago Regional Office’s Municipal Securities and Public Pensions Unit. Mr. Chan leads SEC Enforcement attorneys, accountants and investigators on investigations and litigation involving violations of the federal securities law. Significant matters under Mr. Chan’s leadership include SEC enforcement actions against the State of Illinois, former Mayor of Detroit Kwame Kilpatrick, Ponzi schemer Tom Petters and newspaper mogul Conrad Black. Prior to joining the SEC, Mr. Chan was an attorney in the corporate and securities department of Baker & McKenzie. Mr. Chan received his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University.
