Paul Chen is a partner in DLA Piper's Mergers and Acquisitions and Private Equity practice groups, based in both Silicon Valley and New York. Mr. Chen's practice focuses on advising domestic and international clients on mergers, acquisitions, investments, divestitures and other corporate transactions. He has worked on engagements in a broad range of industries, including financial services, healthcare and technology. Mr. Chen was formerly the managing partner of the Hong Kong office of an international law firm and continues to focus on advising both domestic and international clients on cross-border transactions involving Asia and Asia investors. In 2012, Chambers Asia recognized Mr. Chen for his cross-border M&A practice commenting that he is "very smart at capturing his global knowledge and being able to apply it to the local markets." Mr. Chen has also been recognized by Legal 500 for his M&A practice.

Mr. Chen is also a member of DLA Piper's Insurance Transactions and Regulation group. He has over 15 years of experience in working on insurance industry matters, including advising clients on buying and selling insurance businesses, investing in enterprises that are part of the insurance industry ecosystem (including information technology companies providing insurance related services), raising capital through public offerings and private placements and transferring insurance risk through insurance linked securities.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Chen was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and was head of strategy and business development at NamTai Electronics, an OEM manufacturer of mobile devices and other consumer electronics.
