Olivia Tyrrell is a Chicago-based partner in Baker McKenzie's Corporate & Securities practice.  Olivia advised some of the world's largest companies on billion dollar mergers and acquisitions, many of which have reshaped the global healthcare landscape - and a large proportion of which were carve-out transactions, including spin-offs.

Olivia joined Baker McKenzie in Chicago in 2002 (having worked in the Firm's Sydney, Australia office first) and was elected Partner seven years later at the age of 32. Olivia quickly became the Firm's go-to practitioner for some of Baker's biggest and most prestigious clients looking for M&A counsel.  In the height of the recent pharmaceutical M&A boom, Olivia advised on $28 billion worth of transactions in a 16-month period.

The complexity and size of Olivia's work means that she is often leading a team of hundreds of Baker practitioners around the world. Olivia led the Baker McKenzie team on Abbott's spin-off of AbbVie, Baxter's spin-off of Baxalta and Johnson Control's spin-off of Adient.

Olivia has led numerous multi-billion complex carveout transactions. Known for her organized and pragmatic approach, clients appreciate Olivia's ability to communicate legal issues and details in a way that reflects her deep understanding of the client's unique business

A leader within Baker McKenzie, Olivia sits on the Firm's Pricing Committee.

Olivia received the “Chicago 40 Under 40” award from The National Law Journal, was named among the "most influential women lawyers in Chicago in 2017" and the "Notable Women Lawyers in Chicago in 2018" by Crain's Chicago Business.
