Nina Ossanna, Ph.D.

Dr. Ossanna plays a dual role at The University of Arizona (UA) as the Director of Business Development for the BIO5 Institute and Special Projects in Health Sciences in the UA’s Office of Technology Transfer. In addition, she is a mentor in the Eller College's McGuire Entrepreneurship Program and serves as Chair of the Bioindustry Organization of Southern Arizona (BIO-SA) and Vice-Chair of the Arizona BioIndustry Association (AZBio).

Dr. Ossanna brings a wealth of experience in intellectual property, technology transfer and early stage commercialization to the University. Prior to joining the UA, she was Senior Director of Business Development and Intellectual Property and Corporate Secretary for ImaRx Therapeutics, a Tucson biopharmaceutical company. Before returning to Tucson, Dr. Ossanna spent 8 years at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Office of Technology Licensing in Baltimore, including serving as Director of that office. She is a former patent examiner in the biotechnology arts at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and is a registered patent agent. Dr. Ossanna earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology from the UA.
