Neil Hirshman co-leads the Technology & IP Transactions Practice firmwide. Neil's practice is focused on both domestic and international transactions, including outsourcing (business process and information technology), software development, software, data, trademark, patent and technology licensing, telecommunications, international franchising, commercial agreements (supply, distribution, development) and strategic alliances. In addition, Neil advises clients on the intellectual property and technology issues that arise in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, recapitalizations and bankruptcies. Neil, a registered patent attorney, relies significantly upon his electrical engineering background and experience in representing clients in transactions.

Clients have called Neil "business-savvy and creative" and have touted his "brilliant legal consulting," adding that he is "able to provide a global view as to how the relationship should work and what we should be looking for," according to Chambers & Partners, which selected Neil as one of America's Leading Lawyers for Business in Outsourcing from 2007–2018 and as one of The World's Leading Lawyers for Business in Outsourcing from 2009–2018. Neil has also been recognized by The Legal 500 United States each year since 2010 and was named a “Leading Lawyer” in the 2016–2018 editions.

Neil is the founder and co-chair of the Chicago Chapter and Northern California Chapter of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals, a global membership organization for companies involved in outsourcing and is a member of IAOP's Executive Committee of its Strategic Advisory Board and North America Regional Advisory Board.

In addition to his work with clients, Neil frequently speaks on the subject of outsourcing and intellectual property and technology issues. Last year, Neil led one of the main sessions at the Outsourcing World Summit and in the past has participated on a panel on Cloud Computing and presented on Identifying, Contracting for, and Managing Service Provider Innovation.
