Prof. Dr. Nathalie Voser

Nathalie Voser is a partner in Schellenberg Wittmer's Dispute Resolution Group and co-heads the firm's arbitration team. She often acts as arbitration counsel or arbitrator. She also represents and advises clients in complex multi-jurisdictional disputes before state courts, in particular in her areas of specific industry expertise or in collateral proceedings related to litigation and arbitration such as (pre-trial) attachment and recognition of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.

In terms of industries, Nathalie Voser's practice focuses on construction, civil engineering and energy related projects, research and development, distribution and license agreements, joint ventures as well as mergers and acquisitions. She has particular expertise in the automotive, pharmaceutical and power production industries.

In 1988, Nathalie Voser graduated summa cum laude from the University of Basel and was admitted to the bar in Switzerland in 1990. In 1992, she became a juris doctor with summa cum laude and, in 1994, earned an LL.M. from Columbia University (New York) with honours. In 2005, she received the venia docendi for private law, conflicts of laws and comparative law and, in 2014, was awarded the title of Professor in private law, arbitration law, private international law and comparative law (Titularprofessur) by the University of Basel, where she regularly teaches courses in commercial arbitration and other areas of Swiss private law.

Nathalie Voser is currently a Board member of the Swiss Arbitration Association, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) and the VIAC International Advisory Board. Furthermore, she is a member of the SCC Rules Revision Committee. She served as rapporteur for the 2004 IBA Guidelines of Conflicts of Interest and was a member of the drafting subcommittee of the taskforce on the 2012 revision of the ICC Rules of Arbitration.

Articles published by Nathalie Voser focus on international commercial arbitration and litigation. She has also co-authored a textbook on international arbitration in Switzerland. Furthermore, she has given numerous presentations in these areas in Europe, the US and Asia.

Nathalie Voser was raised bilingual in French and German, is equally fluent in English and has a working knowledge of Italian.
