Mitch Fane is a Principal in Ernst & Young LLP's Transaction Advisory Services Houston office specializing in Valuation and Business Modeling.  He is the national leader of the Utility Valuation Practice and the Houston Valuation Market Leader.

Mr. Fane is responsible for the financial analysis and fair market valuation of debt, equity securities, and intangible assets (both technical and non-technical assets) for closely-held and publicly traded companies. Mr. Fane has experience conducting and supervising assignments for mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, collateral purposes, stockholder disputes, purchase price allocations (SFAS 141 and 142), and tax planning. 

Mitch was the engagement partner or technical review partner on numerous oilfield service, mid-stream, down stream, and E&P company valuations. In addition, he has led the audit review of several of the largest Oil & Gas transactions for the past three years.

He has worked on utility engagements where the subject assets were: merchant generation plants, regulated investor owned utilities, contracted base-load generation assets (coal and nuclear), foreign and domestic transmission and distribution systems, and local gas distribution companies (LDCs). Mr. Fane has valued acquired intangible assets, including: power sale agreements (PSAs), tolling agreements, supply agreements, emission credits, customer software, and drawings and procedures.

Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Mr. Fane was a financial valuation manager with a big five international accounting firm in Atlanta. His duties included conducting and supervising financial valuations and intangible asset valuations.  Mr. Fane had previously been employed as a financial manager at a regional investment banking and financial valuation firm.

Mr. Fane has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designations. He holds a bachelor of business administration degree in finance from the University of North Florida and a master of business administration degree (MBA) from the same.
