Mitch Bernstein is the Assistant Chief Counsel, Global Intellectual Property for Zoetis, a global leader in the discovery, development, manufacture and commercialization of animal health medicines and vaccines, with a focus on both livestock and companion animals. Mitch’s responsibilities at Zoetis include providing IP support to business and research and development transactions and overseeing patent prosecution, primarily in the biological and diagnostic sectors. Prior to joining Zoetis, Mitch was a Principal in the New York office of Fish & Richardson P.C. and a partner at Darby & Darby P.C., where his practice focused on all aspects of preparation and prosecution of patent applications, client counseling, and due diligence investigations in the areas of chemistry, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals, for clients ranging from biotech startup companies to established pharmaceutical companies. He has extensive research experience in the areas of molecular biology, cell biology, genetics and biochemistry.

Prior to his law career, Mitch was Assistant Professor of Anatomy and Structural Biology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he headed a laboratory and taught courses on medical histology and cell biology. He had also performed post-doctoral research at Yale and Princeton Universities.
