Michelle Goldberg-Cahn, is a Senior Counsel in the Administrative Law Division of the New York City Law Department, where she started her legal career in 2000. In this role, she handles a variety of federal and state court actions challenging, on constitutional and other grounds, city programs, regulations, and determinations, as well as prosecutes certain criminal misdemeanors. She litigates regulatory challenges to public health, land use, public safety, public transportation, housing, building demolition, and licensing matters. From November 2012 through February 2013, she served as the Acting Legal Counsel to the New York City Mayor's Office of Housing Recovery, counseling that office on legal issues post-Hurricane Sandy. 

She received her A.B. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1997 and her J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law in 2000, where she served as the Executive Editor of the Administrative Law Review (an ABA publication). In 2005, she received the Association of the Bar of the City of New York's Municipal Affairs Award for Outstanding Achievement in the New York City Law Department. In 2011, she received the New York City Law Department Edith Spivak Special Recognition Award for outstanding achievement, overall dedication, and superior performance.
