Michael Weiner is in-house counsel to Morgan Stanley Wealth Management and advises on the offering of mutual funds, ETFs, and other registered investment products.  This includes negotiating economic and operational arrangements with fund families wishing to offer their products on Morgan Stanley’s brokerage and advisory platforms, advising on new distribution programs, and drafting disclosure regarding the sale of registered investment products.  Mr. Weiner also counsels Morgan Stanley’s proprietary unit investment trust business on the creation, registration, and distribution of UITs.

Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Weiner served as in-house counsel to a mutual fund investment adviser, where his responsibilities ranged from fund registration and disclosure to managing the “Section 15(c)” process.  Mr. Weiner began his career in private practice, where he specialized in defending advisers from claims brought under Section 36(b) of the Investment Company Act of 1940.  Mr. Weiner graduated order of the coif from Vanderbilt University Law School and Swarthmore College.
