Michael J. Mazza, Assistant General Counsel in the Law Department of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, is responsible for legal issues involving Northwestern Mutual’s variable insurance products. His responsibilities include filing registration statements with the SEC and advising on issues related to variable annuity and variable life insurance product development, administration, distribution, and compliance. Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual in 2003, Mr. Mazza clerked for the Honorable John L. Coffey of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and worked in private practice in the areas of estate planning and employee benefits. Mr. Mazza graduated summa cum laude in 1999 from the Marquette University Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Marquette Law Review, and where he now teaches a class on investment company and investment adviser regulation as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Law.
