Melissa Newman is Senior Vice President - Federal Policy and Regulatory Affairs for CenturyLink. Ms. Newman is responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating the company’s advocacy at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), other federal regulatory agencies and with the Administration.

Prior to Qwest’s merger with CenturyLink, Ms. Newman was Vice President -Federal Relations at Qwest Communications International, Inc. She has also served as Deputy Division Chief of the Policy Division in the Common Carrier Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission, and as Legal Counsel to the Common Carrier Bureau Chief. Prior to these positions, Ms. Newman was an associate at the law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher, where she practiced communications law.

Ms. Newman is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Exchange Carriers Association (NECA).

Ms. Newman received her B.A. from the University of Minnesota and her J.D. from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri.
