Dr. Melissa Harwood is an associate in the Seattle office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where her practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, strategic patent counseling, intellectual property due diligence, and patent-related disputes for clients in the life sciences industries. She specializes in chemical and biotechnology patent matters, including small molecule therapeutics, formulations, manufacturing processes, polymer chemistry, nanotechnology, protein and nucleic acid chemistry, medical devices, and clean energy technologies.

In addition, Melissa has extensive experience litigating chemical and biotechnology patent cases in federal court. She also represents clients in adversarial proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes reexaminations and inter partes reviews on behalf of both patentees and requestors.
