MATTHEW SHERIDAN is the managing partner of Sidley’s Singapore office and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee, as well as co-head of Sidley’s International Corporate Finance Practice in Asia. Matt has lived and worked in Asia since 1994 and has nearly 30 years of experience representing underwriters and issuers in connection with corporate financings through global offerings of equity and debt securities, including SEC registered offerings as well as private placements. Matt also has extensive experience in distressed investing, restructurings and public and private mergers and acquisitions.

Matt advises clients throughout the Asia Pacific region including mainland China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. His experience includes transactions involving a broad range of sectors such as real estate, telecommunications, financial institutions, technology, transportation, metals industry, mining, forest products, consumer products, power and oil and gas.

Matt has led numerous award-winning transactions and is recognized as one of the leading practitioners in his field by major legal publications. Who’s Who Legal has consistently listed Matt as a leading business lawyer for Capital Markets. In addition, for the past several years, he has been ranked by Chambers Asia Pacific and Chambers Global as a leading lawyer in China/Hong Kong in the practice areas of High-Yield Capital Markets and Debt Capital Markets. He has also been recognized as a “foreign expert” in the Indonesia Capital Markets chapter. In the 2016 edition of Chambers Asia Pacific, Matt was described as “a terrific lawyer who knows the law inside and out.”
