Matthew J. Petersen

Matt is a partner in the firm's Corporate & Securities Group. His practice focuses in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and general corporate and strategic counseling. He represents clients in leveraged buyouts, rollups and consolidations, takovers and takeover defense. In addition, Matt has extensive experience in the areas of private equity, venture capital/angel financing, recapitalizations and senior and mezzanine lending.

Matt advises companies in a diverse range of industries, from private entities to large corporations.

Represented a venture capital fund in connection with its funding of an acquisition of an insurance claims database and related technology assets from a major credit bureau

Represented the largest U.S. manufacturer of plastic thermoformed packaging in its sale to the U.S. subsidiary of an international conglomerate

Represented private equity fund in connection with the acquisition of the largest U.S. operator of freestanding tire inflator and vacuum vending machines and in its subsequent add-on acquisition of a major competitor

Represented the shareholders of York Label, a portfolio company of Wind Point

Partners, in its sale to private equity firm Diamond Castle Holdings. York is a leading provider of high-quality and innovative labeling technologies to major consumer products, wine and spirits, pharmaceutical, and food and beverage companies worldwide.

Represented major U.S. steel maker in a complex transaction with a supplier involving the restructuring of a mining partnership and the negotiation of a long-term supply agreement.

Represented early stage technology company in multiple rounds of equity and convertible debt fund-raising transactions

Represented executives in a complex, management-led buyout of a leading financial services consulting company

Provided general counsel services to a major manufacturer and distributor of biscotti, bagel chips and other baked goods.

Represented family owned property & casualty insurance company in the first demutualization of a mutual insurance company in Illinois and related buy/sell and business succession planning matters.
