Matthew F. Slavin (Technical Specialist, Office of Structured Disclosure) joined the SEC in September 2012 as a Fellow in the Office of Risk Assessment and Interactive Data.  Mr. Slavin has been a software developer for 20 years.  He was previously with Ernst & Young LLP for 11 years in their Innovative Solutions and Assurance Services Professional Practice Groups, where he developed software solutions and services to improve the audit and specialized in the use of structured data to improve business reporting and analysis.  Mr. Slavin has been involved with the development and use of eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) since 2003 where he chaired a number of technical steering committees and was part of the team that developed the US GAAP taxonomies for the commission.
