Matt Haynie

Matt Haynie serves as Counsel in the Office of General Counsel for the American Petroleum Institute (API) in Washington, D.C. He provides legal advice for API on a variety of oil and gas industry issues, including upstream and downstream environmental matters, industry infrastructure, oil spill response, crude and refined products exports, and access to land for upstream development. Matt holds a B.A. from Rice University, an M.Litt from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. Before joining API, Matt was an attorney at an international law firm in D.C. where he focused on environmental law, primarily for clients within the oil and gas industry. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Clayton Greene, Jr., on the Maryland Court of Appeals, the highest state court in Maryland.
